Enrico Depasquale

Compliance Officer - Malta

Enrico graduated as a Bachelor of Law from the University of Malta in 2002, following which he has obtained the diploma of Notary Public and subsequently a doctoral degree in law in 2005. He also holds a warrant to practice as a lawyer in the law courts of Malta. In 2004 Enrico obtained the Certificate in Trust Law and Administration issued by the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners (Malta).

Prior to joining Active in July 2017, Enrico was the appointed Compliance Officer for an insurer in Malta where he was mainly responsible for the compliance function of the insurance entity in Malta as well as the monitoring of key service providers of the entity in a number of EU jurisdictions. He was also the Internal Controls Officer of the entity and Company Secretary for the holding company. Before such appointment, Enrico was the Legal and Compliance Officer of a leading insurer in Malta as well as its subsidiary, an investment services licence holder.

Enrico’s work experience has allowed him to develop strong analytical skills from a regulation perspective which can then be applied to specific cases in a practical way. Dealing with different business partners in a number of foreign jurisdictions has exposed Enrico to different cultures and practices, thus developing a wider view on business issues and enriching his business outlook. Working within a fast paced environment has assisted Enrico to enhance his organisational, planning and time management skills.

At Active, Enrico is responsible for the day-to-day compliance and regulatory needs of clients and ensures that high quality compliance, regulatory and statutory support service is provided.

Enrico manages regulatory matters for Active’s clients, ensuring that they remain updated and fully prepared to handle upcoming changes in the regulatory landscape as well as to manage regulatory challenges emanating from time to time. Where necessary Enrico delivers training and conducts onsite visits at the clients’ premises to undertake a compliance assessment as well as to discuss any practical compliance issues.
