Maria Canavan, born in Republic of Ireland and educated at University College Dublin, moved to the Isle of Man in 1998. Maria worked primarily in the compliance field of the corporate service provider industry and latterly as Managing Director of a large CSP. 

Maria was one of the founding members of the Association of Corporate Service Providers on the island, which was the representative body for the industry both pre and post regulation. During that time, she sat on a number of FSC, Treasury and other consultative bodies and was also on the committee of both the local and regional board of the Compliance Institute. Maria is an Associate of the Compliance Institute and a member of the Institute of Directors.

Currently studying towards a Masters of Law, her interests include golfing, skiing and boating.
